Once a Laker, Always a Laker.

Hello everyone! My name is Samantha Fraser and I am a new member of the Student Recruitment Team here at Nipissing! I’d like to take a minute to introduce myself!

I was born and raised in South Porcupine, Ontario, which is about four and a half hours north of North Bay, and eight hours north of Toronto. Growing up I was always a northern girl at heart, and so when it came time to choose a university, I knew that Nipissing was right where I belonged.

During my time at Nipissing I studied History and took advantage of a wide variety of different interesting courses in things like English, Gender Equality & Social Justice, Religion, Philosophy, Classics, Environmental Science, Psychology, and more! I had the opportunity to explore all of the different areas that interested me because my degree was so flexible and interdisciplinary (as are all degrees at Nipissing!) Nipissing University offers a truly comprehensive education. I graduated from Nipissing in 2012 with my Honours Bachelor of Arts in History and came back the following year to complete my Bachelors in Education with the prestigious Schulich School of Education.

My time at Nipissing was incredible. I wish that I could go back and do it all over again. There are so many interesting courses available to take; the professors are unbelievably supportive; the campus community is fun and vibrant; and there’s always something to do on campus.

Now that I’ve transitioned from living the university experience myself, to promoting Nipissing University to students, I couldn’t be happier. My experience at Nipissing was overwhelmingly positive, and so I am proud to be able to encourage prospective students to come to Nipissing. I have no doubt in my mind that once you step foot on campus you’ll never want to leave. I moved to North Bay to attend Nipissing in 2008, and 7 years later, I’m still here. Once a Laker, always a Laker!
