Enjoying the Small Things

I often forget to notice the lovely small things that surround me in life. I become so preoccupied with my studies or what time the bus is going to pick me up or even what brand of yogurt I want to buy. However, I seem to always be distracted or have my head down and am tuned out. I challenge you to begin a list of the small things you enjoy in life or that you notice. It might give you a new perspective or recognize that life isn’t all about the bigger things. Here’s a list that I’ve composed of the smaller things I have enjoyed or noticed:

  • The first snow
  • Early mornings when the sun hasn’t risen yet
  • The look of excitement on people’s faces
  • Naps
  • Going on vacation
  • Finally finishing a project and packing everything up
  • Putting the groceries away
  • The crackling of a record
  • Slippers
  • Wearing a really comfy toque
  • My oil diffuser
  • Surprising friends and family
  • Long hugs
