Being a North Bay Local aka A Townie

Being a townie and having the opportunity to travel around Ontario as a Student Recruitment Officer, and talk about my life at Nipissing University was an amazing experience! There is so much that North Bay and Nipissing University have to offer its students that I wanted to be able to tell my story to others.

When I was in grade 12, I was a young, outgoing and involved high school student who dreamed of travelling the world and never ever wanting to settle down in one spot. However, as the end of Grade 12 loomed around the corner and the reality that I was going to University was setting in, I was questioning everything I had previously planned. I chose Nipissing because I knew that by staying local I would be able to save on costs. Then, when I finished my undergraduate degree I would be able to travel without any large debt to hold me back.

What I did not realize when I was in high school was how many opportunities there are for students at Nipissing. I was able to make so many great connections with my professors, my friends and my work colleagues that I realized Nipissing was right where I belonged and I could not have imagined my life over these past 4 years anywhere else!

At the end of the day, I believe that there are so many opportunities at Nipissing for students to become involved, discover and challenge themselves and there is no better place to be. If I could do it all over again, Nipissing U would still be my choice.
