To Those Who I Have Met on the Road

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone whose path I have crossed during the 2014/2015-recruitment season. With my time as a Nipissing University student recruiter recently coming to a close, I can’t help but reflect on the things I have experienced.

Over the course of my undergraduate career I was fortunate to be immersed in many different activities that had me interacting with prospective and first year students. I can confidently say after completing last year’s recruitment season, whether it is visiting high schools, or hosting students on campus, this position allowed me to make connections I couldn’t have imagined.

When I graduated from the Criminal Justice program, I took off from North Bay as quickly as I could only to find myself coming right back. Whether it’s because North Bay is 2.5 hours away from my nagging parents (most students “go to response”), or just because of the familiar faces I see on a daily basis, North Bay is home.

No job could be better than being in a position where you get to tell people all the great experiences and love you have for a place like North Bay and an institution like Nipissing University.

Travelling around Ontario has given me a taste of what it is like to eat great food, see beautiful places, and meet awesome people. I have left North Bay to continue doing just that. I want to continue to travel and I’m getting the chance to now do so, outside of my beloved Ontario.

I started with British Columbia, where the trees are just a little bit bigger and the water is just as uncomfortably cold to swim in. Now, I’m off on the next adventure and I can’t wait.

Thank you everyone, for an amazing year… and I wish all my colleagues and the new Recruiters the very best. Life’s an adventure and it’s amazing to think that all my journeys started here, at Nipissing.
