Are you like me and freaking out over the insane amount of assignments you have due? I’m pretty good at managing my time, but trust me, that doesn’t always stop me from getting stressed out. November is the month of assignments, tests and essays galore. But don’t you worry, I’ve got five ways to ensure that you’ll have an easy, breezy, stress-free time!
1. Clear your mind
It’s understandable when you have two quizzes, four essays and a podcast due next week that you’re going to be feeling a little under pressure. But take a minute for yourself and just breathe. Remember, not everything is due on the same day; you’ll have time to finish everything, don’t worry! If you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a minute and do something you want to do.
Are you into romance novels like me? The library has tons of awesome books to choose from! Go shopping, play video games, go work out, bake! Whatever interests you, take an hour and just relax. I know and understand that you have a lot of work to do, but you also need to remember to take breaks, too! It will clear your mind and leave you feeling well rested.
2. Take a shower/bath
Hot water always seems to calm me down. If you’re feeling stressed, take a long bath or shower, put on your favorite tunes and just relax. If you’re like me, I always have an endless supply of lush products. The hot water is a great way to reduce the tension in your muscles, and it will leave you feeling rejuvenated!
3. Homemade meals are the bomb!
Food is such a great comfort to me. If I’m feeling stressed, I always make homemade mac and cheese and that always gives me joy. I know I can sometimes be guilty of forgetting to eat when I’m stressed, but take an hour and make your favourite meal. It could be something as simple as chicken nuggets – anything that will leave you feeling full and satisfied.
4. Catch up on those z’s
Sleep is key in terms of helping to relieve yourself of stress. If you’re constantly up ’til 2am working on assignments, chances are you’re not getting enough sleep. Take my advice: put down the textbook and go to bed early. You’ll feel great in the morning and be a million times more productive!
5. Have a chat!
Nipissing has some of the best student services available right here on campus. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, make an appointment to talk to someone. I’d advise you to talk to a friend or family member first and if that doesn’t work, make an appointment and talk to someone that will be able to give you professional advice.
Trust me, if you’re stressed out, chances are someone else is too. Just remember that you aren’t alone and there’s always someone you can go to if you feel like you need help!
