It is hard to believe that 5 years of University has come and gone so quickly. It has been 5 years full of amazing experiences, making new friends, living on my own, and yes, a few stressful times. Despite the mixture of positives and negatives, I would not trade the experience. Not only has my University prepared me for the career I can’t wait to start, it has been an experience that will continue to have a significant impact on my life. I am proud of my accomplishments over my time, and I am proud to call myself a graduate of Nipissing’s Bachelor of Education program. It is because of my time at Nipissing, I know I’m prepared to start my career and give it my all.
Though with many new and exciting opportunities, there is often a sad part to it. Graduation means finishing University and taking the next step of my life. It means no longer living in residence or being able to get involved around campus. It is unfortunate; however, those experiences are something I will always remember and cherish.
It is easy for time to get away from you, and that is especially true at university. It is easy to become caught up in readings, assignments, and studying. Though those things are very important, it is also important to enjoy these few years, as they will likely be the one and only chance to have an experience like this. Now, I’m not saying to abandon your 5-page paper due tomorrow in favour of watching a movie with friends. What I am saying, is make the time whenever possible to have fun with your friends. Go tobogganing, build a snow fort, have a movie night filled with junk food. I can think of so many instances where I had the chance to spend more quality time with friends, but I said “no” instead. Now I regret having missed out on some of those opportunities. So, this is why I am telling you to go and have the chance while you are able to.
