Annabelle Harvey – Women’s Volleyball
Hometown: Ottawa, ON
Program: Concurrent Education (English)
Why Nipissing: personable atmosphere, I knew that the small size of the campus would be a right fit for me. Also, Nipissing had the academic and athletic programs I was looking for.
A day in the life: A typical day is spent in class and at the gym, if I have any time off I am usually at home cooking and doing homework.
These are a few of my favourite things: the support system, if ever someone needs help with problems whether it be for personal or academic help there is always someone who is willing to offer resources to solve issues.
Bonus: the small classroom sizes. I feel like the professors actually know who I am and I’m not just a name on a test. Oh, and the gym is pretty nice too!
For the future: After I graduate I would love to teach English abroad. As for now, I’m up for anything that strikes my attention.
Cam Branch – Men’s Volleyball
Hometown: Kingsville, ON
Program: Bachelor of Health and Physical Education
Why Nipissing: I chose Nipissing because of the great athletic facilities and the fact that it is one of the top universities in Canada for academic success. The small class sizes help you make connections with you professors and in return makes learning a lot easier.
A day in the life: I start my day with breakfast, then to the gym for a team workout, attend class, and practice then homework
These are a few of my favourite things: having teammates is like having a second family away from home, which makes school and living away from home a bit easier. Also, being able to play a sport at a high level is a good way to relieve stress and have fun!
Bonus: Small classroom atmosphere allows for close connections with your professors. Having professors that are understanding of the commitment that varsity athletes make, they are more than willing to work with you one on one to help stay on track and on top of school work
Involvement: Besides athletics, I am involved with the research team within the Health and Physical Education program
For the future: being a part of this team has helped me shape and reach goals that I have set for myself. Looking forward, I plan to apply for a master’s degree program in health sciences
