Hometown: Newmarket, ON
Program: Bachelor of Education
Hello Fellow Lakers! I am so excited to be part of the blogging team at Nipissing University this year, and being able to share some of my thoughts and experiences with you all. I figure I’d start with a little introduction. My name is Jessica (or Jess) and I’m originally from the Newmarket area (approximately 45 minutes north of Toronto). I attended Wilfrid Laurier for my undergrad and am now at Nipissing doing my B.Ed program to continue towards my goal of a career in education! I often get asked what made me choose Nipissing, and the list is a bit lengthy so I’ll try to condense it for you. I chose Nipissing University for its small community, its renowned Schulich School of Education, feedback from friends of mine who came here, the beautiful waterfront, and also my gut instincts. I’ve heard the winters are rough, but as a Canadian I plan to tough it out, and hopefully have some fun in the snow along the way! You can normally find me by the pond or in the education cafeteria between classes. I have met so many great people thus far and have a sneaking suspicion that they are a group of people I will be keeping in touch with years after my time at NU has come to an end. If my time here so far is any indication, this year has the potential to be incredible in ways that I can’t even fathom yet. I look forward to sharing my experiences with you all and hearing about yours as well. Here’s to making this year a great one!
